So, time for some Adventures of the Week.
Thursday was boring. Everyone got up wayyyy too early, waited at airports for wayyy too long and eyed the High Terrorist Risk sign wayyy too much and spent wayyy too much time wondering how likely it was for LSE to be hit.
Friday was better. N and I were sitting around when we thought, "You know what? We could be drinking." Yeah, we start at 3:00pm here. Hey, you're only young once. And you only have a babysitter for both kids once every 82 days. I'll drink to that.
And we did. We started with gin, that sneaky little devil. Later in the night we progressed to wine because it just so happens that N loves wine. I was drunk enough by that point that I didn't care. Only I did. A little. A part of me was crying for Bacardi. Then we started playing shotglass checkers. With blue Pucker and Peach schnapps that were about as warm as it could get. Excuse me while I shudder and gag. It was a disgusting experience. I lost but it was a close game. As such, the rest of the night is a bit fuzzy for me.
Saturday. The mean boys tore us out of bed at 8:00am to head off to Minnesota. Where? Why, the Mall of America. Who came up with that stupid idea? Me? Dammit.
Oh, but the great news that totally changed my day? I bought a new pair of jeans. And I fit back into a size 5. And then I got home and realized they're a little loose and I could've gotten a 3.
Yeah, I got to go do my happy dance now.

I iz sleeping so peacefully! I love being a cat.

Hey, what's that?!

It's that girl again...

This is SO humiliating.

Sure. Just take pictures and laugh at me. Later I'll be peeing in your bed.

Actually.. while you're here, would you mind checking my paw? I think I stepped in gum.

Disgusting.
But it's finally over! I reached that wonderful moment of recovery today when I realized my taste was back. Of course I celebrated by stuffing my ass all day long.

Guess who got a new job? ME! :D Right in time, too. It'll be a work from home job and I begin training on the 1st of April. I'll be doing tech support for a big cable company and also some customer service, too. I'm so excited, I think I'm really going to like it. :)
Last night we went bowling with 6 of our friends. I won the first game and got second in game 2. I was quite surprised and pleased with myself. :D I haven't bowled since I was pregnant with Gabe, so I was expecting to get maybe 60-something points. :))

- January 17th 2008: I had to have emergency gall bladder surgery because pregnancy had caused me to get gall stones. They couldn't just remove the stones because I'd waited too long to get it checked, so they had to remove my gall bladder. They actually removed it through my bellybutton. And let me tell you, gall bladder disease hurts SO freakin' much. I would've chosen labor over the pain I was going through.
Here's a photo of the day after surgery:

- February 5th 2008: We moved back to Ian's hometown in a nice three bedroom, two bath home.
- February 6th 2008: Gabriel turned two months old and received his first shots. He did really good, but the next day he ended up catching his sister's cold. Poor little guy had it for awhile.
- February 16th 2008: My baby girl turned three! We spent a quiet day at home with random family members coming by to visit.
- February 23rd 2008: We took Mariah to Chuck E Cheese to celebrate her birthday. She went there last year and ever since September has been asking to go again. Whenever she'd see a commercial for it she'd say, "Mommy! Chuck E Cheese is my best friend. I want to go there!" She had a lot of fun and once Daddy, Uncle Chris and her cousin Danny gave her their tickets she ended up with over 1300.

- And now this week on March 6th 2008: Gabriel will already be three months old! He's getting so big I can't believe it. He's almost got the rolling over down and he talks and smiles constantly. He takes more after me than Ian whereas Mariah takes more after Ian.
So that's basically what I've been up to (besides having major internet withdrawls!). Now I have to play catch up on zillions of blogs. :)

Gabriel is two weeks old today! I can't believe it. My little boy is getting too big too fast. :( He now weighs 8 lbs 2 oz and is officially off the BiliBlanket. Thank God.. You have no idea how relieved I was to finally pack that Blanket away in it's carrying case. DegenBurgland, please come get it now!
He's still a good sleeper and as content as always. I wish I could get a picture of him smiling, it's the cutest thing ever. He has dimples in both cheeks! I love it. :D This morning we were lazing about in bed and as soon as he opened his eyes, he gave me a huge grin (and then proceded to spit up all over me, but I forgave him).
I cannot believe it's almost Christmas! My husband and I have not gotten anything yet! We're not buying for that many people this year, though. With the new baby and other financial difficulties, we're only getting a couple things. Our parents told us not to get them anything and we're not exchanging gifts with each other either. We'll probably just buy for our Secret Santa's for my grandma's Christmas and then get his brother something and Mariah and Gabriel something. Gabriel's will probably be something like diapers. He's way too little to know what Christmas is, so why not just buy something we need? Mariah will probably get a small gift since her grandparents all go ape shit over buying her toys - which she definitely does not need. She has one huge toy box full to the brim and about seven smaller toy boxes full of toys and books. We could have eight more kids and still have enough toys to go around. I now dread garage sale season because I know the grandparents will come to my house with bags full of toys. It's what we get for having the first grandkid for both our parents, I guess. :P
Getting back to the present topic, I think Ian and I are going to try to get it all done this Saturday. We have to go to the city for his work's Christmas party, so might as well do it then to save on gas.
I'm so excited for the Christmas party. It's been way too long since I've been able to go out with my husband. Before, I was pregnant and felt like crap all the time. Oh, and being able to drink again will be nice, too. I just have to buy a breast pump so I can leave milk with my mom - and also so I can pump and dump if I do end up having a drink.. or two. :))

That means every day for the past week he's had to go back to the hospital to have blood drawn and get a weight and color check.
Needless to say, I've visited that hospital half a dozen more times that I ever wanted to. Oh, and I still get to return on Tuesday! The joy.
It should be the last time. His level is down to 15, but my anal careful midwife likes the levels to be under 14. So I have to keep him on the Blanket until Tuesday.
I really, really hate the Blanket. The cord could be a little longer. Whoever made it was not a parent. It reaches a couple of feet at the most. Do they know how hard it is to hold a baby with a cord acting like a leash?
Obviously a man designed it.
If that wasn't frustrating enough, my daughter has caught some sort of stomach bug. She came home from her grandma's on Sunday vomiting. She got sick a couple more times that night, but so far today she hasn't (knock on wood). Though she has been complaining about her tummy hurting all day. I don't know if she's still sick or if her poor belly is just empty from last night. I can't get her to eat anything today, but I've been putting Pedialyte into her sippy cup. Hopefully she feels better tomorrow. Poor little girl is hardly ever sick and she doesn't handle it well when she is.

He was born on the 6th and we arrived home Saturday. Everyone is doing great, settling in was easier than I thought it would be. Mariah loves him and has been really good with him.
Gabriel is breastfeeding like a pro and the nurses say he's gaining weight nicely. However, the poor little boy does have jaundice, so he's been on the BiliBlanket here at home since Saturday. Hopefully today when I take him in to his appointment, it's low enough where he doesn't have to be on it. The cord is only a couple feet long, so it makes holding him kind of difficult. But all in all, he's a content little boy. He doesn't even cry when he wakes up to be fed, just makes cute little cooing noises until he gets his milk. Mariah was the same way when she was his age.
He reminds me so much of his sister at that age. All his little expressions and habits are almost identical to Mariah's. I can't believe Ian and I got so lucky twice in a row. Everyone was saying "Oh, your first one was so good, your second child will be a terror!" Not this little boy. He's a doll. I think he's cried maybe four times since we've been home? No kidding. He's pretty alert, but he's just content to sit and watch everyone.
As you can tell, I'm head over heels in love with him. :X Which is why I'm cutting this blog entry short, someone needs a bath!
